Kyoshi Louise started with Seido Karate at the Kingsland dojo in 1990 and attained her shodan (1st dan black belt) in 1995 under Sensei Roger James. She then moved to England and trained at the Turnham Green dojo until 1997 with Kyoshi John Esposito. In 1998 she moved to Melbourne and trained at the Vic Park dojo for six months with Sensei Darrell Dodds, before moving to Sydney. From 1998 until 2004, Louise trained with Sei Shihan Ino Macquirang, first in Paddington and then at the Broadway dojos. Louise helped with teaching at the Broadway dojo and also assisted Kyoshi Helen Malin teaching at the Woolloomooloo dojo in Sydney. In 2004 Louise moved back to Wellington and trained with Sei Shihan Ben Otang. In 2011, Louise moved back to Auckland and rejoined the Morningside dojo. In 2014 Louise was promoted to Kyoshi (5th dan).
