About Us
“Technique rather than strength. Spirit rather than technique.”
We encourage students to build on their strengths, develop respect for others, and cultivate a strong spirit.
Welcome to the Auckland Seido Karate Club
Auckland Seido Karate Club is a not-for-profit club with no paid employees with members ranging in age from five to 75. Based in Three Kings, Auckland, we have our own dojo with a training floor, locker rooms, and local parking. There is a wooden deck outside to enjoy social events on, and the local reserve offers the opportunity to train outside on sunny days.
The club is run by volunteers and the instructors are all experienced black belts who give their time for free. We seek to teach Seido Karate in a safe non-discriminatory environment and welcome anyone who wishes to give martial arts a go. Through the practise of Karate-do, students are encouraged to extend themselves in a way that develops spirit, awareness and respect for oneself and others.
The club runs a variety of daily classes to suit all ages and levels, including dedicated children’s programmes and general sessions suitable for adult beginners and families. Fun and participation is an important part of the Seido spirit. We run an annual camp, beach training class, and public demonstrations.
We are part of the global Seido family of clubs, with clubs around New Zealand and throughout the world. Membership entitles members to train at any Seido Karate club around the world, where you will be warmly received as a member of a global family.
We also open our dojo to the below non-karate groups that share a cultural alliance and are available to club members at a discounted price:
• Shamisen (Japanese banjo)
• Tai Chi
