Our goal is to help students achieve more for themselves by building confidence, self-discipline, physical fitness and camaraderie in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Karate is not about who can kick the highest or win a fight. Instead Karate encourages individuals to strive to do their best and to challenge beyond their own perceived limitations. Seido Karate is structured and supervised to ensure that students are training in a safe and constructive environment.
Seido Karate was founded in 1976 by Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura (a 9th degree black belt). Nakamura started the World Seido Karate Organisation to develop individuals to improving themselves and the world around them. Seido (which translates to ‘sincere way’) focuses on the principles of love, respect and obedience.
Thinking about the future and legacy of Seido, Kaicho officially gave his son, Akira Nakamura, the title of “Nidaime”, meaning successor in Japanese. This was not a difficult decision for Kaicho as Nidaime has taught alongside him for over 15 years, been involved in all important decisions for the organization, and continues to fully dedicate himself to Seido. With Nidaime’s manturity as a karateka, instructor and individual, Kaicho is both happy and confident with this decision.
